Garden of Knowledge

The proposed design for the Almo Collegio Borromeo embodies its unique spiritual, artistic, and cultural heritage while supporting its evolving mission to engage the Pavia community through art, nature, culture, and ethical science. This transformation reimagines the Collegio as a dynamic space that bridges history and modernity, fostering dialogue between tradition and innovation.

The design draws inspiration from the Collegio’s iconic classical arches, reinterpreting them in contemporary forms to create spaces that are functional, flexible, and interconnected. The project balances respect for the building’s historical significance with a forward-thinking approach, ensuring its adaptability to accommodate new initiatives

The design extends the historic building’s arched structure into the park, employing modern materials and contemporary language to create a striking arch corridor. Inspired by Baroque perspective, it forms a tunnel-like space that invites exploration and discovery. This architectural gesture honors the original structure while embracing the contemporary addition.

Bridging Tradition & Modernity

A flexible design with modular installations allows the exhibition area to be reconfigured for various activities and future expansions. This adaptability ensures the space remains dynamic and responsive to evolving needs.

Also, the modular units use a combination of sustainable materials, such as laminated wood, metal frames, and recyclable composite panels, ensuring durability while maintaining a low environmental footprint.
